Brass is a copper zinc alloy. In general, they have good strength
and corrosion resistance, although their structure and properties
are a function of zinc content.

Brass is often used for decorative uses such as cladding, hand rails, door pulls, sneeze
guards, trim, elevator jambs hardware and hinges.
Advantages to using brass is its classy look, resistance to corrosion and its excellent
plating, polishing and finishing characteristics.
Disadvantages in using brass is that it requires a good deal of maintenance as it is
prone to tarnish. This is the major reason why most brass is given a clear coating of
lacquer to prevent this condition.
